A beautiful day

Wow! What a wonderful day! Recess and lunch hours were a hive of activity out there! It is nice after such a cold snap. This is a busy week, with Friday being a holiday for the kids, it feels like we're trying to pack eveyrthing in, but we're having some fun too! It is milk week, and we are really pushing drinking milk as a healthy choice.
We have a science test on Thursday, which students are working hard to study for, as well as nailing our multiplication and division facts. I have sent home a box of division flash cards which I would like students to practise every day for the next 2 and a half weeks. Most kids are catching on, but definately need some practise.

TIME IS FLYING!

I can't believe we're at January 18th already! We have been sailing through our light and optics unit, and I expect us to be done in the next week! We have learned a lot about the light spectrum, shadows, how light moves through different objects, and reflection & refraction. I am amazed at the excellent work students have been doing.
We also got started with our drama, called "Bugbeat", which is all about bullying. We are planning on performing it at our chapel on March 9th.

WHAT A CHILLY DAY!

Wow - it was cold out there today! -34 with windchill at lunch! Glad we have somewhere warm to stay.Today was a very exciting day as we watched the senior girls and boys soccer recieved the bronze medal, and the boys also got the sportsmanship award. Way to go!
We are really promoting drinking milk as part of our healthy eating program, so we are making it more convenient to buy milk by purchasing a milk card or cash as the milk cart goes from room to room. The cost is 75 cents per milk (chocolate or white). You may also purchase a milk card at any time throughout the year. One milk card is $15 which gives you 20 milk cartons of your choice. Drink milk and support the Jr. SRC!

We're already at Wednesday, and  it feels like we never left! I am proud of how hard students are working and getting back into the rhythm of the school day.
Today we worked a little more on our Math unit on Multiplication, and finished off our similies stories for ELA. I am blown away by how creative and funny our little books are! Way to go, grade 4!!
This afternoon we did some experimentation with light and shadows and learned the difference between transparent (see through), translucent (somewhat see -through) and opaque (not see through). We are having a lot of fun with it!
